What did we learn? A back-to-school update about Visual Assist’s latest from our GM

New season, fresh start

As Fall approaches, it’s not just students heading back to school. it’s also a perfect time to evaluate your coding tools. Which ones are ready for advanced coursework, and which might need some upgrading? You might find that some of those tools need a higher degree while others might be ready to graduate.

And we’ve been doing our homework…

At Whole Tomato, we’ve been “back in class” by hearing and learning from you through discovery calls and feedback. And we’ve been learning a lot. One recurring theme we’ve noticed: growing regulatory pressure around C++ code safety, especially in the EU. That’s why our next Visual Assist release introduces safe C++ code inspections, a first step of many in helping C++ teams secure and protect their code.

Putting AI to the test

Like everyone else, we’re researching how AI can genuinely help real developers. In our view, bolting on a new chatbot barely earns a passing mark and doesn’t add much value. Instead, we’re working on thoughtful implementations like AI-enhanced Find References to deliver human-readable explanations for your results. This helps you orient yourself more quickly in extensive, complex, or unfamiliar code. And it’s fully local and optional for our customers with stricter AI policies.

Upgrade your gear: back-to-school promo

You wouldn’t send your own kid back to school with last year’s worn-out backpack, so don’t tackle your Fall projects with tools that aren’t in top shape. To help you upgrade, we’re giving you:

If you’re a student, your discount is even bigger. Apply for a fully sponsored academic license and start the semester with the best C++ productivity tool on the market!

The offer runs through September only. Visit our website to redeem yours before it expires.

We will never stop learning

Visual Assist grows alongside you. Your feedback is our syllabus, and our learning never ends. Our upcoming release is one step forward, but many more lessons are ahead.

Every season has new opportunities – don’t miss them, and don’t pass up this one. Upgrade your tools, get the latest release…and keep learning!

Have anything to tell me? Send me a note – I’d love to hear what’s on your mind.
