The most common purchase questions
If you're buying with company funds for use at work, choose Standard. If you're buying for your own indie or hobby projects with personal funds, choose Personal ($129/yr). If your team runs a self-hosted, shared license pool, choose Concurrent, or Network named user for server-assigned named seats.
All new releases for one year, plus priority support and unlimited community support. Visual Assist releases approximately 6–8 times per year. After year one, renew at $119/yr (Standard) to keep receiving updates and priority support. Let it lapse and repurchase later if you prefer.
Your license keeps working — you just won't receive updates to newer Visual Studio versions or new features until you renew. You can renew at any time.
Yes. Standard licenses can be transferred by request to Whole Tomato support (active maintenance required). Network named user and Concurrent licenses are reassigned within your company by your license administrator.
Visual Assist is free for qualifying academic institutions. See Education Licenses → A personal license at $129/yr is the most affordable option for indie and hobby use.
